Anathetical Design....?

Analytical/Synthetic Cubism Designer Portraits

My Designer Statement was "Designer as a Reorganizer." In other words, not creating from nothing, but taking one thing, disassembling it, and reorganizing the pieces into something completely new in meaning and form.

Chapter 3-4: Analytical/Synthetic Cubism

Analytical Cubism
Analytic Cubism used geometric shapes to openly express a 3D object, after an analysis of the object as a whole, to represent it in 2D on the same plane with multiple viewpoints seen at once.

Synthetic Cubism
Synthetic Cubism used a more abstract construction, using lines, shapes, or collage materials to express the "idea" of a subject on a more flat plane, rather than literally representing it. Often the paintings seem totally abstract until the title is read, at which point the image becomes clear (as in Picasso's The Studio)
